About the event
Best Forgotten Art and post-film discussion with Johnny Dawes
Join Johnny at Hideaway for a screening of his 1996 crack climbing film Best Forgotten Art.
Part-documentary, part-slice of life – all climbing. The long out-of-circulation film explores the history and artistry of Peak gritstone crack climbing from its early pioneers, the Rock and Ice years through to the friends-equipped 90s.
‘What is the best headset to go into climbing gritstone cracks?  Is it after you've broken up with your girlfriend?’ (Johnny in conversation with Joe Brown)
A ‘modern’ look at the desperate art of climbing gritstone cracks - Dawes fronts an eclectic group of British climbers with John Allen, Airlie Anderson, Joe Brown, Arthur Dolphin, Leo Houlding, Ruth Jenkins, Chris Plant, Boone Speed, and Johnny Woodward.
The film will be followed by a conversation with Johnny Dawes.
